About Dyan
Empowering people with the tools and support to feel more balanced and fulfilled

“In the ancient Gurukulu system of India, the personal journey involves a guide, teacher or mentor who helps you make the darkness light. I’d be honoured to be that for you.”

Whatever you’re dealing with, I trust that you’ve found me for a reason. I bring empathy, compassion and a range of skills to help you live a more fulfilled, balanced and meaningful life.

My purpose is to inspire, motivate and empower you through a deeper understanding of yourself. I can help you access your inner strength and knowing through a powerful combination of yoga, meditation and psychotherapy philosophies. And if it’s practical support you need – like in-home care, household management or simple companionship – I can help with that too.

So, what brought me to this point?

As young child, I remember going to Hatha yoga classes with my mum and watching the women lay down in a circle with feet touching in relaxation. This stayed with me and was seeded into my system. In all the work I do to care and support others to become more resourced and fulfilled, I feel I’m tapping into the lineage of the beautiful women behind me.

I studied yoga firstly in the Sivananda tradition outside of Montreal Canada, and began teaching general adult classes back in Melbourne. After my children were born, I taught pregnancy and post-natal classes as well as yoga and mindfulness meditation for children and teens. I continue to further my yoga studies until today.

I came into meditation throughout my yoga journey, furthering my studies in the Insight tradition and in mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) with Jon Kabat-Zin and later with Timothea Goddard and Dr Maura Kenny at MTIA Australia. Mindfulness practices are an essential part of my everyday life.

To further my interest in the human experience and helping people develop in their relationships with themselves and others, I studied for my diploma of Soul Centred Psychotherapy at Kairos Centre and, after taking a Post Graduate couples counselling course, I interned for a year at Relationships Australia Victoria.

I’m honoured to continue learning from and with my teacher and mentor of over 24 years, Angela McGee – an Insight meditation teacher, counsellor and psychotherapist. This deeply rewarding work includes sharing in her yoga sangha (community group) of fellow teachers and colleagues, and teaching yoga on the 7 day retreats she runs with Carol Perry in Boho, Victoria. I also participate in silent retreats in the Insight Tradition in an ongoing way.

My work explores a healthy approach to living through meaning, connection, clarity, mindfulness and honouring the mindbody system. It’s about learning to be in relationship with the world around you, with friends, family, intimate life partner, and most importantly – yourself.
